Carrying complex and conflicting histories, we can often experience harm in our work, school, and healthcare environments. Our healing circles offer a space to express the impact of such harm and collectively regulate our nervous systems.
Therapists, too, need support. Our histories intertwine with tales of conflict, trauma, and victory. As a supervisor, our primary interest lies in your growth and humanity, aiding you to navigate the intricate landscape of trauma.
While many therapists and mental health professionals are versed in the language of anti-racism and anti-oppressive practice, implementing these practices in day-to-day lives can be challenging. Our consultations focus on integrating theory into practice, bridging the gap between understanding and embodiment.
Melissa Taylor, a Consultant in Training (CIT) and certified EMDR therapist, provides consultation to mental health professionals who have completed basic EMDR training. Monthly group consultations and limited individual consultations are available.
Melissa offers specialized training on topics such as Ancestral Memory, the Impact of Anti-Black Racism, a Neurobiology Approach to Anti-Oppressive Practice, and Decolonizing Evidence-Based Practice.
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) offers a transformative listening therapy to improve auditory processing and social engagement through filtered music. Designed as a non-invasive method, SSP helps re-tune the nervous system, promoting better connection, collaboration, and resilience. Suitable for both children and adults, it’s especially beneficial for those with trauma, anxiety, and sensory processing differences.
Our affordable therapy program provides access to a therapist in training — a social worker or psychotherapist who has completed the foundation of their program and has both lived and professional experience in the field. Therapists in training maintain a smaller caseload, offer up-to-date training, and are supervised by Melissa Taylor on a weekly basis. This service is available for Ontario residents aged 18 years and older. Availability begins September 2023, with the cost per session varying between $50 to $80 based on need.

The City of Hamilton is situated upon the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, which was an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. We further acknowledge that this land is covered by the Between the Lakes Purchase, 1792, between the Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Today, the City of Hamilton is home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island (North America) and we recognize that we must do more to learn about the rich history of this land so that we can better understand our roles as residents, neighbours, partners and caretakers. We stand in solidarity with murdered and missing Indigenous women, girls, transgender and two-spirit people.
